It was [not] a love story. It was [not] a tragedy.

For the theme "Young" (omg finally a theme that matches the picture)

Aaah.... I worked SO hard on this... Gawd...butterflies... Took four hours to do... The umbrella was one of the first things added, but the last thing detailed... It was important at first but then I just GAVE UP. I mean it's not even raining or anything.

...So, ok, I know I abuse the butterfly brush, but there's a point to it other than being pretty. Sort of. Butterflies symbolize metaphorphis, or just change. But you know, change isn't always for the better...

Also, even though I've done of few these in this style, this is the ONLY time I actually stuck to it (ok not really my attention span disintegated at the end). If that kind of stuff interests you, go check out Dan Kim at Clone Army. Dan's the man, man. He has a tutorial for this, too.

Troy Taceo and Perduto Sorridere are (c) to me.
Artistic Differences is (c) to :icongruesome-reflection:
The name "Heaven's Night" (c) Team Silent. (just borrowing it for a lil' while)
The evil umbrella (c) to itself

[CS2, 4 hours, my sanity]

Edit: After looking at and everything else in my gallery, I JUST realized that this looks like someone with roughly seventy billion (ok not really) times more talent than me drew it. >_> I'M SORRY MY ART HAS THE CONSISTENCY OF JELLO, OK?

the girl's clothes (shirt and bottom) were all black to begin with, and then I just blocked out a white portion i wanted to be filled. I selected it (magic wand or lasso , whatever) and then just went crazy with the butterfly brush. I dunno what program you use, but as far as I know back to adobe Photoshop 3.0 has the brush. For the guy, I did the same thing for his collar, but the bottom was, again, all blocked out black. I had some custom flame and blood brushes (I downloaded them from DA, I'll try to find the link later) and just kinda dabbed at the bottom with low opacity.

Pretty much any special effect brush will work for the fill-in method, as long as it's the right size (too big and everything will just go black) and opacity (again, everything will just go black.)

Hope that helps. I only thought of it when I was almost done with it. Of course, only a anti-sleep addled brain at three in the morning could have thought of it. XD

Ha, I finally followed the tutorial correctly.

Sort.

My attention span pretty much died a quiet and lonely death while my attention to detail suddenly came back to life and demanded I put designs on their clothes. It just all black, wif no purtty butterfly or bloody granite motifs. XD

XDDD Good thing you woke up from that little stupor of yours and added the detail; it looks really amazing with it.
